Clive Hutchinson is the CEO of Cougar Automation, and he spoke to us during the Creating Happy Workplaces Conference about his focus on sustainable, profitable growth through customer service.

Hi, we are Happy

We are leading a movement to create happy, empowered and productive workplaces.

How can we help you and your people to find joy in at least 80% of your work?

More about Happy

Clive Hutchinson, CEO, Cougar Automation

Clive was introduced to a book that had a quiz at the back of it, showing what your strengths are in the workplace. Through sharing this book with his employees, he found their strengths and started using them to better place people in roles, creating a better workspace. It's much more challenging to change people to fit the job instead of changing the job to better fit the individual.

He found that ensuring that his employees were playing to their strengths meant that they had more job satisfaction and were better at the actual work they were doing. This lead to growths within the company and better interactions with customers.

What you will learn in this video:

  • How focusing on service helped with their happy workplace.
  • Why it's important to make sure people are enjoying the job they are working.
  • How looking at strengths on problems can help solve management issues.
  • How to best give feedback and find strengths for in your employees.
