Our core values

Happy is a Disability Confident Committed Employer

As a Disability Confident Committed Employer, we have committed to:

  • ensure our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible
  • communicating and promoting vacancies
  • offering an interview to disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job
  • anticipating and providing reasonable adjustments as required
  • supporting any existing employee who acquires a disability or long-term health condition, enabling them to stay in work
  • at least one activity that will make a difference for disabled people.

Just some of the ways that we have supported our staff are:

  • We have made adjustments at previous interviews – like giving more time for exercise completion
  • We have successfully supported staff with Access to work applications and assessments, securing funding for deaf interpreters, travel allowances for taxis, a new desk etc
  • In our sickness policy we count any illness due to a disability as only ‘one instance’ in a calendar year, so sickness levels aren’t skewed highly
  • When we organise Happy days and our seasonal party, we ensure that everyone can participate in the group activities, and will pay for taxis to take staff from one place to another if needed
  • We offer flexibility of hours and working patterns, plus hybrid working to support all staff with good health and well being
  • Our Mentors and Multipliers (what we call our people managers) actively support any adjustments needed for staff – we encourage discussions around workload, the way we work, working to strengths and training needed etc
  • All new staff are assigned a buddy to provided added support through the first three months of induction and beyond
