Case Study: Devon Air Ambulance
Devon Air Ambulance is a charity that provides emergency medical services throughout the county of Devon. The charity is run by 140 members of staff and over 730 volunteers. Happy facilitated the Happy Leadership Programme, with some bespoke elements, and additional Executive Coaching for five members of the senior leadership team.

Leadership training that has had real tangible benefits
Before working with Happy, Martin's main concern was about the benefits following the programme. "I have taken part in similar training before, as part of the senior team with my current organisation as well as with other companies, so I wasn't sure if we would find any tangible benefits from taking part in the programme."
However, his worries turned out to be unfounded. "Personally I have been able to take the learnings from the course and apply some of the principles with my direct team. That has been useful, but I would say the coaching that supported the group sessions has had the most positive impact on how I go about my day-to-day.

The programme was facilitated via two face-to-face workshops (at the start and end) and through a series of highly interactive online half-day sessions on various topics, such as giving people autonomy, strategic thinking, change management and an introduction to coaching. "Having a hybrid approach was useful and helped to get some pretty busy people in the same space at the same time."
The final session of the programme was adapted from the previously agreed outline by the facilitator to meet the needs of the Devon Air Ambulance team. This was changed following discussions within previous sessions, which highlighted areas that the team wanted to explore further.
