Creating Happy Workplaces in Charities and Social Enterprises

On 16th August 2018 ella Forums and Happy Ltd hosted this one-day conference, where attendees learnt why happy workplaces makes sense – with the real financial benefits including higher staff retention, increased staff productivity, and lower staff sickness.

Speakers included Libby Gordon of Christian Aid, Sophie Bryan, and Henry Stewart of Happy.

Topics covered important issues such as learning how organisations both large and small have implemented ideas around autonomy and trust, how to help your staff work to their strengths, and how to create workplaces with a no-blame culture.

It was a highly interactive day, which provided many opportunities to network and discuss experiences with others in a relaxed and open environment.

Imagine a workplace where people are energized and motivated by being in control of the work they do. Imagine they are trusted and given freedom, within clear guidelines, to decide how to achieve their results. Imagine they are able to get the life balance they want. Imagine they are valued and held accountable for the work that they do, rather than the time they spend at their desk. Wouldn’t you want to work there?Henry Stewart, Chief Happiness Officer at Happy
