Requirements
Learners must be confident creating formulas that use Absolute Cell References ($ to fix a cell) and how to use more complex functions like IF. If you’re not confident with those, look at our Excel Core Level 2 course.
Course Overview
This Excel for Advanced Users course can be held either in the classroom or online as Live Online Learning. The outline for both formats is the same, however the classroom session offers more time with the trainer to work on exercises, ask questions and complete activities.
CPD certified
Excel for Advanced Users is now CPD certified.

What you will learn
By the end of this advanced one-day Excel course, you will be able to:
- Create Partial Absolute Cell References to lock just the Column or just the Row reference in a formula.
- Move around a spreadsheet speedily using Range Names and use them in formula to improve accuracy and readability.
- Input accurate data entry by using Data Validation. e.g., enter a number within a certain range, enter a date within a certain period, choose from a given list to avoid errors.
- Use IF and Nested IF statements to check whether one or more conditions are met.
- Use the OR function to check whether any of the specified conditions are met and if so, return a value of TRUE.
- Use the AND function to check whether ALL of the specified conditions are met and if so, return a value of TRUE.
- Create calculations based on single or multiple conditions. For example, calculate a discount for those over a specific age or ordering a high volume (IF with AND and OR).
- Use the SWITCH function to swap a value for something else.
- Use the MINIFS function to return the lowest value amongst multiple criteria.
- Use the MAXIFS function to return the highest value amongst multiple criteria.
- Use some functions to clean up your data so it can be analysed accurately.
- Cross reference data using a Lookup function. For example, look up an age and place it in a category e.g., 16 to 25.
- Use IFERROR to tidy up your results.
