About Hogan Assessments
Who is it for?
The Hogan assessment gives you true insight not just about your own values, strengths and potential but crucially about your reputation at work. Through the feedback you will identify and understand your tendencies and behaviour and also discuss the development areas that could be derailing your success.
Feedback is given by Nicky Stone. As well as being Hogan certified, Nicky developed and runs the Happy Leadership programme. This means she is uniquely qualified to look at your feedback alongside the principles of a happy and engaged workplace, with self-managing teams.
Why Hogan?
Hogan has more than 25 years of experience providing cutting edge assessments.
They can be a great tool for use as part of a talent management programme. We are able to offer HoganInsight reports for individuals who are not in senior leadership positions as well as HoganLead reports for those that are.
What assessments are available?
The Hogan assessments are the most scientific, well-respected, and rigorously validated personality assessments in the world. These tools are designed to enhance the effectiveness of leaders, teams, and organisations by creating powerful insights about human nature and performance.
The Hogan assessment focuses on your reputation and delves into three key questions that shape your reputation: What do people want from you? How will you go about getting what you want? And what barriers might hinder your progress? By examining these facets of your personality, the assessments offer unique perspectives on how you are perceived by others. The assessment consists of three reports:
- Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) - The HPI describes the ‘bright side’ of personality; the characteristics that other people see when we are at our best. Assessing bright side personality provides critical understanding of how people perform and lead, as well as their potential for success.
- Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI) - The MVPI describes the 'inside' of personality; the self that you know. It assists career decisions by identifying the values and motives that are most important to the individual and can define the job type, team climate or corporate culture in which they are most likely to flourish. For leaders this can also indicate the kind of culture the individual may create.
- Hogan Development Survey (HDS) - The HDS assesses the ‘dark side’ of personality; the characteristics that lie behind the social mask, that can ‘derail’ opportunities for success. Assessing dark side characteristics means performance risks can be identified and addressed before they become an issue.
What packages do we offer?
You can purchase the reports individually or you can purchase them as a package. We offer two different packages:
- The Insight package + Flash provides a comprehensive overview of individual strengths, performance risks, and core values. It helps with developing strategic self-awareness, understand how others perceive your behaviours, and making development decisions. (cost £150 + VAT)
- The Leadership package is written in relation to the impact behaviours have on leadership, it is more exhaustive and written in prose rather than bullet points. It offers a comprehensive assessment of leadership potential, focusing on executive strengths, derailment risks, and values. (cost £370 + VAT)
After you complete the assessment, you will have a 45min (online) coaching session (if you completed an individual report) or a 90min (online) coaching session (if you completed a package of all three reports), where you get feedback and understand your tendencies and behaviours, and discuss the development areas that could be derailing your success.

Half-day Hogan workshop (3 hours, for up to 12 people in the same team)
We are also able to offer a half day workshop for teams looking to further their understanding of Hogan and each other. Held after each individual has received their own feedback, this workshop provides the opportunity to further explore the Hogan scales within the context of the team that you work in.
The aim is to give team members the chance to understand and articulate some of the similarities and differences between them and understand how to get the best from each other.
- Recap on the three reports and the elements of personality they cover, creating a shared understanding and vocabulary
- Compare yourselves to other colleagues to understand what these traits look like in practice
- Get real-life feedback on your reputation using the Hogan scales
- Understand how the team’s different values will determine how well a workplace culture suits them and the unconscious bias they have towards other colleagues.
- Discover how we may motivate different people depending on the values and drivers
- Explore how different Hogan scales may give clues as to people’s suitability for certain work
- Interview colleagues to understand their approach to high stress situations and consequently gain insight into your own
This workshop can be combined with other workshops to create a full team away day. Learn more about our private group programmes and costs here.
