Course Overview

What you will learn

Based on theories from The Happy Manifesto, research into what makes great workplace and real world examples, this one day programme looks at how to respond to a crisis in a way that cements your culture and deepens the relationships within and around your organisation. The temptation is to become reactive and give in to the thrill of firefighting when what your people need is clarity and a principled approach.

Be it a global pandemic or something more specific to your industry, the question is, are you well equipped to lead your people through the next crisis? Given recent events this is the perfect time to reflect on how your organisation responded. In what ways did you thrive and what hard lessons do you not want to learn again?

Programme content

  • Psychological safety when the ground is moving
  • Understand the tendency to take a narrow view and use techniques to think strategically
  • Avoid being seduced by managing, offer leadership and vision
  • Balancing transparency and positivity
  • Being the leader people need: authenticity and influence
  • Maintaining and building on trust and autonomy
  • Principles led decision-making
  • Nurturing relationships and being available
  • Managing change

How you will learn

This full-day remote course will be delivered via a combination of Live Online Zoom sessions and self-guided study. The self-guided elements will focus on explaining the concepts and tools and allow for self-reflection. While the Zoom sessions will focus on group interaction, discussion, exercises, and opportunities to practice the skills. We use the full functionality of Zoom to ensure our sessions are interactive, including small breakout rooms where you can run through skills in small groups.

Please do not plan any other remote meetings on this day. It can be intense being online and we’d love you to be fresh throughout the learning.

There are four units in this programme:

  • Unit One: Self-guided introduction to the topic and key concepts (maximum 30 minutes). This needs to be completed before the workshop.
  • Unit Two: Live online workshop
  • Unit Three: Self-guided reading, exercises and self-reflection (maximum 40 minutes).
  • Unit Four: Live online workshop

The Small Print

All learners will need to install Zoom on their machines. Full technical requirements are on the Zoom website. Your link will be included in your joining instructions once you have booked your place — if you haven't received this email then please contact our team.

Learners should log into the training session 10 minutes before the start time, to ensure that they have downloaded and set up Zoom correctly. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals.

Your active participation is expected: everyone will be heard and seen throughout, just as they would be if we were in a room together. To be heard, hear and seen you will need a microphone, speakers and camera — if you have a modern laptop that’s all you will need. Remember, you’ll need a quiet place to call from and a decent internet connection is a must.

Please ensure you read our Terms and Conditions before booking for our payment terms and cancellation policy.
